I’ve been getting these sponsored posts from IPSY in my newsfeed for what feels like forever.   I decided to go ahead and give it a try.

It’s a monthly subscription with three different options:

  • Glam Bag – $12 for 5 trial-sized items
  • Glam Bag Plus – $25 for 5 full-sized items
  • Glam Bag Ultimate – $50 for 12 beauty products

You have the option to pay yearly instead of monthly, and the option to skip a month.

(I have a monthly subscription, so I don’t know if you can skip with a month with a yearly subscription)

I chose the monthly $12 for 5 trial-sized items option, mostly because I don’t want to be stuck with a full sized product if I wind up hating it.

You’ll get an email each month to select one product that goes in your bag. The other four items are then selected by IPSY to compliment your choice.

You’ll recieve a second email later in the month to choose any add-on items.  These vary from trial- to full-sized and will be shipped with your bag.  The price range varies from $3 to $15, but the shipping is free.

Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30

“This everyday moisturizer helps shield skin from environmental aggressors and sun damage, while brightening your complexion with vitamin C.  This nourishing lotion has an uplifting citrus scent, absorbs nicely, and is great for all skin types.”

I’ve used this before, a long time ago, so it was nice to be reintroduced.  It has an almost citrus smell to it, like oranges mixed with something else, which is nicer than some other brands I’ve tried that smell like straight up sunscreen.  Not sure I noticed any brightening, but maybe if I used it daily over time I would.

Wanderess Glow Highlighter in After Glow

“Enriched with sunflower seed oil and camellia seed oil, this glowy powder hydrates and soothes your skin upon contact.  Sunflower seed oil is rich in vitamin E, which is known to help calm your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Camellia seed oil contains antioxidants to nourish your complexion and keep your skin soft and supple.”

I was really excited to try this, I’ve been seeing ads for the Wander Beauty products everywhere and wanted to see the quality.  I’m not really a highlighter person, frankly this is the first time I’ve ever used one.  It gave a nice shimmer. It almost perfectly blends in with my skin tone, so I’m not sure if it’s usually supposed to lighten the skin a bit as well? But it did give a nice shimmer, I could tell it was there.  Quality seems good, I’d be interested in trying out their other products.

Ultra Glow Moroccan Rose Mask

“Pink clay improves skin elasticity and leaves your complexion silky smooth and soft; while kaolin absorbs excess oil and exfoliates and detoxifies your skin.  Aloe treats acne and skin irritations, while algae extract conditions and hydrates your skin on contact.”

If could get one product in my glam bag every month, it would be this one.  It has the nicest, purest rose scent I have ever smelled in a facial product. I was honestly a little sad to wash it off after 15 minutes.  There’s a little grit to it, but it goes on smoothly. You can feel the grit as your washing it off, and my face felt so smooth for the rest of the day.  I’m considering ordering this one in its full size, I loved it so much.

Tinted Lip Balm in Call Me

“This hydrating tinted balm delivers a sheer wash of subtle rosy nude color to your lips. Not sticky or greasy, this beautiful balm moisturizes your lips and enhances your natural lip color.”

I am not a lipstick person. Maybe I just can’t find a shade I like, or a formula that doesn’t wind up feeling weird on my lips.  I got this and was like “Eh…” But I was pleasantly surprised. The color is shade or two darker than my normal lip color so it looks pretty natural.  It wasn’t sticky and it didn’t make my lips feel dry. It’s a pretty good moisterizing balm, I’d almost say works a bit better than the chapstick I usually use.  I would use this brand again, and might even try other colors.

Blush in Dauphine

“Buildable, non-drying, and light-reflecting, this beautiful blush will quickly become your new go-to for everyday use.   Dauphine is a terracotta-toned blush that delivers a sun-kissed wash of color.  Free of shimmer, this face enhancer has a soft, satin finish.”

I usually use a pinker blush, so I would probably get a different color if I bought this again.  It’s sheer, which is nice since you can choose your intensity.  It’s a sample size, but I’m really wondering how much bigger a full size would be. I’m not an everyday blush user, but this could probably last me a couple months.

I ordered two of the add-ons this month, they were trial-sized and $3 a piece.

Power Trip Phytoglycogen + AHA Facial Serum

“AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids) exfoliate only the upper surface of your skin (so they’re more gentle than some exfoliants) and are great acne-fighters.  Phytoglycogen is extracted from plants, it helps your skin produce collagen and elastin (so it’s plump and smooth) and hyaluronic acid (for major hydration).  And to top it all off, arnica and calendula extracts help calm redness or irritation and soothe your skin.”

Eh… I’ve used this 6 times now. I can’t say I’ve really noticed a difference.  It has an odd scent; It’s almost like a chemical scent, but not really a chemical scent?

Confidence in a Cream

“With collagen, vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, and a super ceramide complex, this skin-soothing moisturizer also nourishes, heals, and calms skin instantly and over time.  Peptides help reduce the appearance of fine lines and support natural collagen production for smoother, firmer skin, while ceramides help restore and repair the skin barrier, keeping skin moisturized and supple.”

This is one of those products where the scent could go either way. It almost has a citrus smell…but it could also be a bit of a chemical smell? It’s not unpleasant, just a bit odd.  It’s a relativly small sample and I don’t have a huge amount of fine lines that I could compare to see if they looks reduced.  This is probably one of those that you have to use daily for a significant amount of time to see any real benefit from.  It does soak into the skin nicely, no tacky residue or that feeling that something was on your face.
